🌷 Spring kindness in action 🌷
Today’s biweekly coffee hour came with a meaningful twist. With the idea and supplies kindly provided by Andrea Lynch, our grad students and postdocs spent time creating Spring and Easter cards for City of Hope patients.
It was a simple gesture, but one filled with heart, and everyone brought such thoughtfulness and creativity to the table. All cards will be delivered to patients on March 20th - just in time to welcome the new season with a little extra joy.

On Friday, November 14th, the PTO hosted a Mentoring-UP Workshop for postdoctoral fellows to strengthen their mentoring skills.
The interactive session helped trainees learn to advocate for their needs, build supportive mentorship teams, and foster healthy, inclusive, and high-performing research environments.
Led by Dr. Mark LaBarge, Dr. Carlotta Glackin, and Liliana Cacique, the workshop included practical tools, engaging discussions, and opportunities to connect with colleagues.
Thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to a thoughtful, engaging event!

The PTO hosted another wonderful Heritage Month celebration this week. In recognition of National Native American Heritage Month, our Coffee Connection Hour highlighted flavors and traditions inspired by Native communities.
Attendees enjoyed freshly baked cornbread, seasonal fruits, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere set to the soothing and healing sounds of Native American music.
The gathering offered a meaningful moment to honor Indigenous cultures, spark conversation, and build community.

Our 2025 City of Hope Poster Session was a great success, bringing together a group of 58 presenters from across the institution. More than 100 attendees circulated among the posters, listening as staff scientists, research associates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows shared their work.
A highlight of the event was our 2-Minute Elevator Pitch Contest, where participants rose to the challenge of presenting their amazing research.
And of course, the evening wouldn’t have been complete without delicious hors d’oeuvres and great conversation!

The Beckman Frontier Forum is a quarterly event series designed to showcase the exceptional
research contributions of our graduate students and postdoctoral researchers at City of Hope.
These forums aim to highlight the innovative and groundbreaking work being conducted within
our community, fostering an environment of collaboration and scholarly exchange.
Each session will feature two 30-minute distinguished presentations: one by a graduate student
and another by a postdoctoral researcher, each followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. This will
provide an excellent platform for our researchers to discuss their findings and engage with the
audience.
The event will conclude with a reception, offering a valuable opportunity for networking and
further discussion. The Beckman Frontier Forums are not only a platform for recognizing the
outstanding research conducted at City of Hope but also an opportunity to inspire collaboration
and innovation across our community.
Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served during the networking session.
