Path to Ph.D. in Translational Medicine
The strategic goals of the City of Hope support education as one of the major efforts of the institution. Areas of translational and precision medicine are critical for development of treatment strategies, drug development, and disease prevention. The Ph.D. in Translational Medicine program permits students graduated from Master of Science in Translational Medicine (MSTM) who have discovered that they are interested in furthering their career in research and developing research at the level of a Ph.D. to continue in the same laboratory at the Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences.
To be eligible for engagement in the Ph.D. in Translational Medicine, students must have demonstrated the foundational experience for success in study at the Ph.D. level. Validation of requisite skills and ability are satisfied with:
- successful completion of the Master of Science in Translational Medicine program by the start date of enrollment as a Ph.D. student to the Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences;
- a cumulative GPA of 3.4 from the Master of Science in Translational Medicine program; and
- a letter of support from the MSTM thesis mentor and/or future Ph.D. thesis mentor by the beginning spring semester of the Master of Science in Translational Medicine program.
Ph.D. in Translational Medicine is accredited by the accredited agency WASC Senior College and University
