CIRM/Teams Program Details
The CIRM/TEAMS program offers first-hand research experience in regenerative medicine and stem cell biology. Faculty mentors in the program investigate themes related to cancer stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells, tissue-specific stem cells, and human pluripotent stem cells. In addition to coursework and seminars with the Eugene and Ruth Roberts Summer Student Academy, the CIRM/TEAMS program at City of Hope includes:
Lectures focusing on relevant biological themes and the ethics of alternative applications for stem cells.
Presentations from City of Hope faculty, including researchers and clinicians, discussing their career path.
Real-world learning with City of Hope’s Michael Amini Transfusion Medicine Center, Gene Editing and Viral Vector Core, and Islet Cell Transplantation Program.
Community service and outreach in the local community.
Networking opportunities and poster presentations at the SPARK Annual Meeting.

Who We Look For
We look for students with a dedication to science and a genuine interest in furthering their research careers, particularly in regenerative medicine and stem cell biology. Trainees who succeed in the CIRM/TEAMS program are highly motivated both inside and outside the classroom and are prepared to fully invest their summer in learning from City of Hope faculty.
Timeline
The program is ten weeks in duration, typically running from early June to mid/late-August. Trainees are expected to commit to the program in its entirety, as the internship is full-time.
