Established in response to the growing need for professionals in cancer research and treatment, the Cancer, Aging, and Metabolism Research Experience Program (CAMP) provides undergraduates from all backgrounds with a hands-on experience in City of Hope’s renowned cancer research laboratories.
Our Mission
CAMP strives to equip students in sciences with the tools necessary to pursue careers researching and treating cancer and age-related diseases. The program offers real-world experience by uniting professional laboratory training, clinical experiences, and career development.
Learning Objectives
- Participate in the scientific process by conducting a basic, translational, or clinical research project.
- Gain competency in scientific techniques necessary for a contemporary biomedical career.
- Establish familiarity with potential career paths in clinical medicine, academia and biotech.
- Train research practice concordant with research ethics, rigor and reproducibility and data science principles.
- Hone professional skills necessary for a scientific career, including scientific communication for multiple audience, networking and system thinking.
